Measurement and reliability release

Published: privacy-first tracking and recurring site operations

Speak Scripture now measures useful engagement without advertising cookies, persistent user profiles, raw search text, IP addresses, or user-agent storage; it also publishes privacy controls, RSS discovery, IndexNow support, and a recurring production-operations checklist.

Correction: NKJV snippets are allowed by reviewed exception. The project does not treat the ordinary quotation limits as blanket permission for a bulk NKJV biblical-reference corpus.

What was corrected

The site previously had strong release, privacy, cache, route, and download verification, but it did not have a production engagement-event system or recurring synthetic collector proof.

This release adds bounded first-party measurement, a public field contract, browser privacy controls, Analytics Engine storage, scheduled production monitoring, analytics reporting commands, RSS discovery, IndexNow submission, and security.txt.

The implementation deliberately avoids collecting prayer text, copied text, raw search queries, full referrers, IP addresses, raw user agents, names, email addresses, account identifiers, cookies, or cross-site advertising profiles.

BSB

Berean Standard Bible — canonical public Scripture text

The canonical website and Android release continue to publish verified Berean Standard Bible wording from the checksum-pinned public-domain source.

Tracking and operations changes do not alter Scripture wording, source identity, translation metadata, or the canonical application export.

Official BSB terms →

NKJV

New King James Version — reviewed comparison lane

NKJV remains the preferred comparison edition and stays separate from the canonical BSB corpus.

The tracking system stores neither Scripture selections nor copied text, so limited-rights wording cannot enter analytics events through a copy or search payload.

Official Thomas Nelson permissions policy →

WEB

World English Bible — unrestricted alternative

The World English Bible remains registered as an unrestricted modern-English alternative.

The measurement release changes delivery and operations only; it does not relabel adapted wording as official WEB text.

Required for every NKJV comparison excerpt

  • Use only a short selected comparison excerpt rather than systematic passage storage
  • Keep NKJV wording separate from the canonical BSB Scripture field
  • Include the exact registered NKJV copyright notice
  • Record a positive verse count and selected-excerpt status
  • Record an approved written-permission or documented fair-use-review basis
  • Record reviewer, date, publication scope, and evidence reference

Completed implementation

  • Added a local analytics client to every HTML page with Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track, and browser-local opt-out support.
  • Added an allowlisted same-origin /api/track Worker endpoint that rejects unsafe origins, malformed schemas, unknown events, oversized payloads, unsupported content types, missing bindings, and failed writes.
  • Bound production and preview Pages environments to the SPEAK_ANALYTICS Analytics Engine dataset and added Worker regression tests proving sensitive extra fields are discarded.
  • Published /privacy/, /data/tracking-schema.json, RSS update discovery, an IndexNow key route, and /.well-known/security.txt.
  • Added production monitoring, analytics reporting, Analytics Engine binding configuration, IndexNow submission, a machine-readable recurring checklist, and a human operations runbook.
  • Added release gates that verify tracking field minimization, privacy controls, every-page script coverage, service-worker discovery routes, RSS integrity, IndexNow key hosting, and the generated Worker collector.

Publishing and canonical hosting

  • Cloudflare Pages remains the canonical production host and builds the private GitHub main branch through the complete npm run check gate.
  • The Analytics Engine binding is configured independently for production and preview and is verified by the recurring production monitor.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled through zone-level automatic installation and live-beacon verification; the first-party Analytics Engine event system remains the custom engagement-tracking lane.

Speak Scripture now has a privacy-first measurement, discovery, monitoring, and recurring-operations system without weakening Scripture, rights, source, or private-research boundaries.
