Practice
Listen to Scripture, name the specific act or attitude, receive correction without humiliation, and take the next concrete step of obedience to Jesus.
Boundary
Submission to God is never permission for a leader, spouse, parent, or ministry worker to demand blind obedience, conceal abuse, or override conscience and lawful protection.
Declaration / Proclamation / Confession
I submit myself to God and receive His correction as grace. I reject stubbornness and choose willing obedience to Jesus, while refusing every human demand that contradicts God's truth and righteousness.
22But Samuel declared: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obedience to His voice? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams. 23For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance is like the wickedness of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He has rejected you as king.”
Speak it
Obedience is better than sacrifice, and attentiveness is better than the fat of rams. I refuse rebellion and arrogance; I will not reject the word of the LORD.
6But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 10Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.
Speak it
God gives me more grace. I submit myself to God, I resist the devil, and he flees from me. I draw near to God and He draws near to me; I humble myself before the Lord, and He lifts me up.
15If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. 21Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.”
Speak it
Because I love Jesus, I keep His commandments. I am loved by the Father, and Jesus loves me and reveals Himself to me.
12See to it, brothers, that none of you has a wicked heart of unbelief that turns away from the living God. 13But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Speak it
I will not let a wicked heart of unbelief turn me away from the living God. I welcome daily exhortation from my brothers and sisters, so that I am not hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
16Do you not know that when you offer yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to the one you obey, whether you are slaves to sin leading to death, or to obedience leading to righteousness? 17But thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed. 18You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Speak it
I am no longer a slave to sin. I wholeheartedly obey the teaching I have received, and I have been set free from sin to become a slave of righteousness. I offer myself in obedience that leads to righteousness.
5Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, so that in due time He may exalt you.
Speak it
I clothe myself with humility toward others, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. I humble myself under God's mighty hand, and in due time He will exalt me.
