Praise & Thanksgiving

⁸“Give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the nations. ⁹Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonders. ¹⁰Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. ¹¹Seek out the LORD and His strength; seek His face always. ¹²Remember the wonders He has done, His marvels, and the judgments He has pronounced, ²³Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Proclaim His salvation day after day. ²⁴Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. ²⁵For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. ²⁶For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens. ²⁷Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy fill His dwelling. ²⁸Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. ²⁹Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness; ³⁰tremble before Him, all the earth. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. ³¹Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice. Let them say among the nations, ‘The LORD reigns!’ ³²Let the sea resound, and all that fills it; let the fields exult, and all that is in them. ³³Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth. ³⁴Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever. ³⁵Then cry out: ‘Save us, O God of our salvation; gather and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy name, that we may glory in Your praise.’ ³⁶Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting.” Then all the people said, “Amen!” and “Praise the LORD!”

¹Of David, when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, so that the king drove him away. I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. ²My soul boasts in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice. ³Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together. ⁴I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. ⁵Those who look to Him are radiant with joy; their faces shall never be ashamed. ⁶This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him; He saved him from all his troubles. ⁷The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and he delivers them. ⁸Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

¹A Psalm of thanksgiving. Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth. ²Serve the LORD with gladness; come into His presence with joyful songs. ³Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. ⁴Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and bless His name. ⁵For the LORD is good, and His loving devotion endures forever; His faithfulness continues to all generations.

¹Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever. ²Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy ³and gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south. ⁴Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no path to a city in which to dwell. ⁵They were hungry and thirsty; their soul fainted within them. ⁶Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress. ⁷He led them on a straight path to reach a city where they could live. ⁸Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men. ⁹For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. ²¹Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men. ²²Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare His works with rejoicing. ³¹Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men. ³²Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people and praise Him in the council of the elders.

His loving devotion endures forever. ⁷He made the great lights—His loving devotion endures forever. ⁸the sun to rule the day, His loving devotion endures forever. ⁹the moon and stars to govern the night. His loving devotion endures forever. ²³He remembered us in our low estate His loving devotion endures forever. ²⁴and freed us from our enemies. His loving devotion endures forever. ²⁵He gives food to every creature. His loving devotion endures forever. ²⁶Give thanks to the God of heaven! His loving devotion endures forever.

¹⁶Rejoice at all times. ¹⁷Pray without ceasing. ¹⁸Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

²⁰Early in the morning they got up and left for the Wilderness of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood up and said, “Hear me, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be upheld; believe in His prophets, and you will succeed.” ²¹Then Jehoshaphat consulted with the people and appointed those who would sing to the LORD and praise the splendor of His holiness. As they went out before the army, they were singing: “Give thanks to the LORD, for His loving devotion endures forever.” ²²The moment they began their shouts and praises, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir who had come against Judah, and they were defeated.

¹For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; He inclined to me and heard my cry. ²He lifted me up from the pit of despair, out of the miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my footsteps firm. ³He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

¹⁴Sacrifice a thank offering to God, and fulfill your vows to the Most High. ¹⁵Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.” ²³He who sacrifices a thank offering honors Me, and to him who rightly orders his way, I will show the salvation of God.”

³⁰I will praise God’s name in song and exalt Him with thanksgiving. ³¹And this will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with horns and hooves. ³²The humble will see and rejoice. You who seek God, let your hearts be revived!

¹A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High, ²to proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning and Your faithfulness at night ³with the ten-stringed harp and the melody of the lyre. ⁴For You, O LORD, have made me glad by Your deeds; I sing for joy at the works of Your hands. ⁵How great are Your works, O LORD, how deep are Your thoughts!

¹Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout to the Rock of our salvation! ²Let us enter His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him in song. ³For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. ⁴In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. ⁵The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. ⁶O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. ⁷For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the sheep under His care. Today, if you hear His voice,

Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy ¹³before the LORD, for He is coming—He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in His faithfulness.

¹Of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; all that is within me, bless His holy name. ²Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds— ³He who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases, ⁴who redeems your life from the Pit and crowns you with loving devotion and compassion, ⁵who satisfies you with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

¹Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever. ²Let Israel say, “His loving devotion endures forever.” ³Let the house of Aaron say, “His loving devotion endures forever.” ⁴Let those who fear the LORD say, “His loving devotion endures forever.” ²⁴This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. ²⁸You are my God, and I will give You thanks. You are my God, and I will exalt You. ²⁹Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.

¹A Psalm of praise. Of David. I will exalt You, my God and King; I will bless Your name forever and ever. ²Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. ³Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised; His greatness is unsearchable. ⁴One generation will commend Your works to the next, and will proclaim Your mighty acts— ⁵the glorious splendor of Your majesty. And I will meditate on Your wondrous works. ⁶They will proclaim the power of Your awesome deeds, and I will declare Your greatness. ⁷They will extol the fame of Your abundant goodness and sing joyfully of Your righteousness. ⁸The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion. ⁹The LORD is good to all; His compassion rests on all He has made. ¹⁰All You have made will give You thanks, O LORD, and Your saints will bless You.

¹Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty heavens. ²Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him for His excellent greatness. ³Praise Him with the sound of the horn; praise Him with the harp and lyre. ⁴Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; praise Him with strings and flute. ⁵Praise Him with clashing cymbals; praise Him with resounding cymbals. ⁶Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Hallelujah!

¹In that day you will say: “O LORD, I will praise You. Although You were angry with me, Your anger has turned away, and You have comforted me. ²Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. For the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and He also has become my salvation.” ³With joy you will draw water from the springs of salvation, ⁴and on that day you will say: “Give praise to the LORD; proclaim His name! Make His works known among the peoples; declare that His name is exalted. ⁵Sing to the LORD, for He has done glorious things. Let this be known in all the earth. ⁶Cry out and sing, O citizen of Zion, for great among you is the Holy One of Israel.”

⁷As my life was fading away, I remembered the LORD. My prayer went up to You, to Your holy temple. ⁸Those who cling to worthless idols forsake His loving devotion. ⁹But I, with the voice of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to You. I will fulfill what I have vowed. Salvation is from the LORD!” ¹⁰And the LORD commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

¹¹While Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. ¹²As He entered one of the villages, He was met by ten lepers. They stood at a distance ¹³and raised their voices, shouting, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” ¹⁴When Jesus saw them, He said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were on their way, they were cleansed. ¹⁵When one of them saw that he was healed, he came back, praising God in a loud voice. ¹⁶He fell facedown at Jesus’ feet in thanksgiving to Him—and he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷“Were not all ten cleansed?” Jesus asked. “Where then are the other nine? ¹⁸Was no one found except this foreigner to return and give glory to God?” ¹⁹Then Jesus said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well!”

²²The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered that they be stripped and beaten with rods. ²³And after striking them with many blows, they threw them into prison and ordered the jailer to guard them securely. ²⁴On receiving this order, he placed them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. ²⁵About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. ²⁶Suddenly a strong earthquake shook the foundations of the prison. At once all the doors flew open and everyone’s chains came loose.

¹⁸Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. ¹⁹Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord, ²⁰always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! ⁵Let your gentleness be apparent to all. The Lord is near. ⁶Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. ⁷And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

¹⁵Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful. ¹⁶Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. ¹⁷And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

¹⁵Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, the fruit of lips that confess His name. ¹⁶And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
