Guidance and Wisdom for Decisions

Seek God’s will, examine motives, gather counsel, and take the next obedient step without demanding false certainty.

Scripture foundation

1 John 5:14-15 BSB

And this is the confidence that we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we already possess what we have asked of Him.

Philippians 4:6-9 BSB

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Jeremiah 29:11 BSB

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.

Proclamation

Father, Your thoughts are peaceful and redemptive. I ask for wisdom and submit my preferred outcome to You.

Expose fear, pride, haste, wishful thinking, hidden pressure, and any motive that would distort discernment. Renew my mind and align my desires with truth.

Guide me through Scripture, wise counsel, providence, facts, responsibilities, and the peace that accompanies obedience. Keep me from using a feeling as an excuse to ignore wisdom.

I will not be paralyzed by uncertainty. Show me the next faithful step, the information still missing, and the decision that can wait. I trust You while I move with humility.

Faithful next actions

  • State the decision in one sentence.
  • Separate facts, assumptions, fears, and preferences.
  • Seek counsel from someone qualified and trustworthy.
  • Choose a review date for decisions that should not be rushed.

Use with wisdom

  • Do not use a subjective impression to bypass Scripture, verified facts, qualified counsel, contracts, law, or safety.
