Give me accurate records, lawful remedies, fair negotiation, increased honest income, restraint from waste, and discipline for repayment. Protect me from predatory debt and desperate schemes. In Jesus' name, amen.

And now his creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves!” 2“How can I help you?” asked Elisha. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered, “Your servant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.” 3“Go,” said Elisha, “borrow empty jars from all your neighbors. Do not gather just a few. 4Then go inside, shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour oil into all these jars, setting the full ones aside.” 5So she left him, and after she had shut the door behind her and her sons, they kept bringing jars to her, and she kept pouring. 6When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another.” But he replied, “There are no more jars.” Then the oil stopped flowing. 7She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil, and pay your debt. Then you and your sons can live on the remainder.”
I bring what little I have in the house to God. He multiplies it, my debt is paid, and my household lives on what remains.
7The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.
The borrower is slave to the lender. I refuse needless debt, and with God's wisdom and help I walk toward freedom from every obligation.
28Which of you, wishing to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost to see if he has the resources to complete it? 29Otherwise, if he lays the foundation and is unable to finish the work, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, 30saying, ‘This man could not finish what he started to build.’
Before I build, I sit down and count the cost. I check my resources so I can finish what I start.
8But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will repay it fourfold.” 9Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham.
Like Zacchaeus, I give to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I repay it. Salvation has come to my house today, for I too am a child of Abraham.
